Position: SVP/VP, Commercial Surety
Location: Greater Nashville Area (Franklin, TN); Remote
Overview:
The SVP/VP, Commercial Surety will report to the President and will oversee the commercial surety strategy for Indemnity National Insurance Company, including underwriting, distribution, growth of existing supported classes, and expansion into new classes. This role will also have direct underwriting responsibilities and will include P&L accountability. This position may be based in the Franklin, TN office or remote. Candidates will be considered for a SVP or VP role depending on experience, but will hold the most senior commercial surety role.
Responsibilities:
- Lead profitable growth of the company’s commercial surety operations
- Build out commercial surety underwriting and support team
Deliver strong underwriting results (growth and profitability) for new commercial surety business - Develop new and refine existing underwriting strategies for various commercial classes of business
- Establish, grow and maintain new and existing agency relationships
- Underwrite new account submissions within authority levels delegated by the President
- Oversee and participate in periodic account underwriting reviews for new and existing accounts
- Communicate opportunities, successes, and challenges clearly and effectively with the President and other members of management on a regular basis
- Additional duties as necessary
Requirements:
- 7+ years of overall commercial surety related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other business-related field
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of commercial surety with an emphasis on underwriting and agency relationships
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong Excel and Office skills
- Ability to travel up to 30%, as required
- Familiarity with FactSet (preferred but not required)
